Charles Hours, the father

The Man behind
Clos  Uroulat

Charles Hours embodies the very essence of the winemaker, combining traditional expertise, infinite passion and unwavering dedication to his art. He took over Clos Uroulat in 1983. The estate had existed since 1775. Nothing would have been possible without the precious help of family and friends in the first years.

His vision as a winemaker: he does not simply see winemaking as a profession, but as a vocation. His vision is to create wines that transcend terroir, capturing the very essence of the soil and climate with the unique Gros Manseng and Petit Manseng grape varieties that characterize Jurançon.

Marie Hours, the daughter

A childhood among the vines

Marie grew up among the vineyards of Monein, watching with admiration as her father, Charles, shaped the destiny of the estate through his love for vines and wine. These early experiences combined with those abroad shaped his deep understanding of the land, the grape varieties and the magic that operates in a cellar.

Marie Hours embodies the new generation of winegrowers, bringing new energy and contagious passion to the helm of Clos Uroulat. As Charles' daughter, she is committed to carrying on the family legacy while infusing modern creativity into the ancestral art of winemaking.
